Musical 'Matilda' Celebrates 300th Performance, Invites First Matilda... Discount Event Included

[Asia Economy Reporter Seomibeum] The musical 'Matilda' is preparing a homecoming day event inviting the original Matilda as it approaches its 300th cumulative performance. A 20% discount event will also be held.

According to the production company Shinsicompony on the 3rd, 'Matilda' will reach its 300th performance (2 PM show) and 301st performance (7 PM show) on the 8th. This is only the second season since its premiere in Korea on September 8, 2018, the first in Asia and non-English speaking countries.

At the curtain call on this day, the first Matildas Seol Gaeun, An Somyeong, Lee Jina, and Hwang Yeyoung will join together. They will take the stage for the first time in four years to present a special performance with the second Matildas. They will participate in the curtain calls of both shows.

Also, to commemorate the 300th performance, 'Miracle Week' will be held from the 3rd to the 8th. During this week, all seats will be 20% off, and the 2023 Matilda card calendar will be given as a gift. Except for the performance on the 8th, curtain call photography will be allowed.

Shinsicompony stated, "'Matilda' was a production that everyone thought was impossible for Korean performances. As a blockbuster replica musical, it had relatively low recognition, and in the Korean musical market centered on famous actors, it was rare to see a family musical starring a young girl as the main character." They added, "However, we chose this work with the belief that we must introduce a piece that can be the driving force for the future Korean performance industry, and it has been evaluated as 'expanding the base of family musicals' and 'diversifying the audience demographics.'"

'Matilda' will be performed at Daesung D-Cube Arts Center in Guro-gu, Seoul until February 26.
