Gwangju Dong-gu Forms Two Law Enforcement Teams for Continuous Operation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is strengthening crackdowns on illegal roadside storage that obstructs pedestrian traffic and urban aesthetics.
Dong-gu plans to organize two teams of the law enforcement crackdown unit to focus on intensive maintenance around commercial areas and side streets where illegal storage is concentrated.
The crackdown will be conducted throughout the year as needed, and a warning notice encouraging voluntary cleanup will be issued to unauthorized occupants on the road for the first time.
If compliance is not met thereafter, fines ranging from 100,000 KRW per square meter up to a maximum of 1,500,000 KRW will be imposed.
On the 3rd, Lim Taek, head of Dong-gu Office, emphasized, “Since time has been allowed through prior notice to clean up illegal storage, from this year onward, we plan to enforce strict crackdowns according to law and principles.”
