Dorim Pedestrian Overpass Connecting Sindorim Station Collapses
Lower Bicycle Path and Walkway Fully Closed
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] The Dorim Pedestrian Overpass near Sindorim Station in Seoul has bent like a taffy stick, raising safety concerns and leading to a complete closure.
On the 3rd, according to Yeongdeungpo District and the police, the Dorim Pedestrian Overpass connecting Dorim-dong and Sindorim Station has sagged. Not only the overpass but also the bicycle path and walking trail underneath have been completely closed.
The police received a 112 report at 1:01 a.m. that day stating that the middle part of the Dorim Pedestrian Overpass had sagged. At the scene, 11 fire trucks and 45 firefighters were reportedly deployed. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.
On-site investigation confirmed damage to the overpass support cement and the iron railings. Yeongdeungpo District has installed control fences and is managing the site.
Meanwhile, the Dorim Pedestrian Overpass, opened in 2016, is a 2.5-meter-wide, 104.6-meter-long pedestrian bridge connecting Dorim-dong and Sindorim Station. It features a truss structure with an arch shape without piers.
