Japanese national actor Watanabe Ken (64), who has also entered Hollywood, is reportedly planning to remarry a woman 21 years his junior, with whom he had an extramarital affair.
On the 1st (local time), Japanese media outlet 'Sponichi Annex' reported that Watanabe Ken is scheduled to remarry a non-celebrity woman in her 40s, Ms. A. The two have been dating since 2013.
Watanabe Ken's extramarital affair was uncovered in March 2017. At that time, the Japanese magazine 'Shukan Bunshun,' which first reported the affair, claimed, "Watanabe Ken maintained an extramarital relationship for over three years with a 30-something jewelry designer who worked as a hostess at a high-end traditional club." At that time, Watanabe Ken's wife, Minami Kaho, was battling breast cancer after being diagnosed.
As public criticism surged in Japan for committing an affair while his wife was ill, Watanabe Ken eventually held a press conference and apologized, saying, "I am sorry for causing worry and trouble." He divorced Minami Kaho in 2018.
It is said that Watanabe Ken did not give up his relationship with Ms. A even after that. In November 2019, he brought Ms. A to his 60th birthday party held at a jazz club in Tokyo, and reportedly introduced her as his "partner" to those around him.
Watanabe Ken and Ms. A are currently living together in Nagano Prefecture, Japan.
