[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 3rd that it has secured 1 billion KRW in national and city funds for the 'Geon-gukdong Happy Community Sharing Nuri Center Project.'
As the project was selected in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's '2023 Community Revitalization Foundation Contest', it plans to remodel two vacant buildings on the site of the Geon-gukdong Administrative Welfare Center into shared community spaces such as ▲shared caf? ▲shared kitchen ▲cultural sharing center.
In particular, the Geon-gukdong Residents' Autonomy Committee will continuously consult on the utilization and operation plans of the building spaces, and specialize the space as a base to realize village agendas by promoting village-specific projects that reflect local characteristics.
Moon In, the head of Buk-gu Office, said, “Geon-gukdong is a village community with potential that promotes village projects by utilizing various specialized resources in a complex area of urban, rural, and industrial zones,” adding, “This project is expected to be an opportunity to restore the resident community, which had somewhat stagnated through two previous subdivision processes.”
