[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk announced on the 3rd that it will expand postpartum care expenses support starting this year.
The county stated that from births on the 1st of this month, postpartum care expenses will be increased from the existing 500,000 KRW to a maximum of 2,000,000 KRW.
This postpartum care expense support is the largest in Jeonbuk, and the eligible recipients are mothers who have resided in Gochang-gun for more than one year as of the date of birth.
Applications can be made at the administrative welfare centers in the resident registration address's eup/myeon after birth registration through the 'Integrated Birth Service Processing Program.'
The 2,000,000 KRW postpartum care expense will be paid in Gochang-gun local currency. If the one-year residency requirement at the time of birth is not met, the postpartum care expense can be applied for from the day one year has passed. County Governor Shim Deokseop said, "We expect that the expanded support for postpartum care expenses will contribute to improving the health of mothers and newborns and alleviating the economic burden on families with newborns," adding, "We will continue to strengthen support for children and childcare to make Gochang a happy and vibrant place for all residents."
Meanwhile, the county supports five projects as its own initiatives, including childbirth encouragement funds, support for pregnancy and birth congratulatory goods (500,000 KRW), full coverage of delivery medical expenses when using local obstetrics and gynecology (Gochang Hospital), and postpartum health care support (200,000 KRW).
