"Come to 'OnHakgyo' Winter Vacation"... Gyeongbuk Office of Education, Real-Time Interactive Classes 'Onhakgyo' Winter Vacation Timetable

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Koo Dae-sun] The Gyeongbuk Office of Education announced on the 3rd that it will operate the learning support platform for elementary school students, ‘Onhakgyo’, during the winter vacation.

‘Onhakgyo’ is an elementary online learning support platform (YouTube-based) by the Gyeongbuk Office of Education to provide student-led learning opportunities and guarantee learning rights, offering free real-time interactive classes.

For grades 1-2, it operates Korean language, mathematics subjects, Hangul reading, and creative play to improve basic academic skills, while for grades 3-6, it offers Korean, social studies, mathematics, science, and English subjects.

The Gyeongbuk Office of Education will run a special course for three weeks from the 2nd to the 20th to coincide with the winter vacation. Considering the academic schedule and students’ vacation life, classes will be held at 7 PM during the first week of January (January 2-6), and from 11 AM during the second and third weeks (January 9-20), with two sessions per day (each session lasting 25 minutes).

During the winter vacation, the focus will be on thoroughly organizing the main learning contents by grade and subject, strengthening basic academic skills, and fostering regular study habits.

Students who cannot participate in real-time classes can also learn anytime by watching the recorded videos.

‘Onhakgyo’ is a free platform that any student can use without separate membership registration, and the number of students participating in classes is steadily increasing. It has received great responses from students and parents with 11,100 subscribers and over 1.1 million views of class videos.

Kim Hee-soo, Director of Elementary Education at the Gyeongbuk Office of Education, said, “I thank the Onhakgyo teachers who are working hard to improve self-directed learning skills and reduce learning gaps even during the winter vacation,” adding, “We will do our best for the growth and development of all students through rich and fun programs and diverse and active interactions.”
