Joy of Participating in the Masters After 9 Years
Scott Sterlings (USA) revealed through his social media that he recovered a Masters invitation that had been mistakenly delivered to a namesake.
On the 2nd (local time), Scott Sterlings posted on his SNS account, "After checking the mailbox five times a day, I finally received a personal message."
Scott Sterlings secured a Masters invitation by finishing in the top 10 in seven tournaments, including a runner-up finish at the BMW Championship held last year at Wilmington Country Club. The year 2022 is recorded as the year he launched his full-fledged comeback.
However, Scott Sterlings had to remain silent until his peers each verified their delivered invitations on SNS. This was because the invitation had been mistakenly delivered to another golfer with the same name. This golfer is known to live in the same neighborhood as Scott Sterlings and even has a wife named "Jennifer," just like him.
The golfer posted on his Twitter account, "I received a Masters invitation today. I am sure this is not mine," adding, "It seems to be confusion caused by our identical names, geographic proximity, and the same wife's name." He further added, "I am glad to be able to return the misdelivered invitation."
With this, Sterlings, who participated in the Masters twice in 2012 and 2014, will enjoy the joy of competing in the Masters again after 9 years.
