"Drug Substances Detected in the Body"
American female rapper Gangsta Boo (real name Lola Mitchell, 43) was found dead, and local police have launched an investigation amid suspicions that she died from an overdose of the opioid painkiller fentanyl.
According to U.S. entertainment media TMZ and others on the 2nd (local time), Gangsta Boo was found dead on the 1st at a friend's house in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a pioneering figure who gained popularity as a member of the famous hip-hop group Three 6 Mafia.
TMZ cited sources saying, "Drugs were found in Gangsta Boo's body," and "It is presumed to be a substance mixed with fentanyl." Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of death and plan to conduct an autopsy later.
It was also reported that her older brother, who was present at the scene, had to be hospitalized for treatment due to a drug overdose.
In the U.S., deaths caused by fentanyl abuse have recently occurred one after another, emerging as a serious social problem. Fentanyl is an opioid painkiller created for administration to patients with severe pain, such as cancer patients. With an addiction potential 50 times that of heroin and 100 times that of morphine, fentanyl is often mixed with other drugs and distributed.
Last month, Tyler Sanders (18), an actor who appeared in the spin-off series of the popular American drama The Walking Dead, died from fentanyl addiction.
Sanders was found dead on June 16 last year in an apartment in Los Angeles (LA). According to the LA authorities' autopsy results, his body showed a strong drug reaction.
According to the coroner's report, Sanders sent a text to a friend the day before his death stating that he had taken fentanyl. White drug powder and inhalation tools were found in his home.
The deceased's parents issued a statement saying, "Sanders fell into drugs not as a way to find social enjoyment but while trying to overcome mental issues." They added, "We decided to share Sanders' story to advance discussions on this widespread issue (fentanyl abuse) in society," and "We hope our story can save others."
