KT M Mobile launches affordable 5G mid-tier plan starting at 20,000 KRW per month

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] KT M Mobile announced on the 3rd that it has strengthened its lineup by newly launching two mid-range 5G plans priced in the 20,000 KRW range per month: '5G Call Unlimited 20GB' and '5G Data Enough 20GB/200 Minutes.'

This is part of the policy to revitalize the budget phone 5G market and the expansion of the follow-up lineup to the 5G plans KT M Mobile launched last September. KT M Mobile targeted the MZ generation (Millennials and Generation Z), who prefer the trend of ‘self-purchased devices + budget phone 5G plans,’ by releasing 10 types of 5G plans last September.

A KT M Mobile official stated, “Since the launch of 10 5G products last September, the number of 5G subscribers has grown about fivefold. Customers who subscribed in the fourth quarter account for 49% of 5G subscribers over the past two years, and especially the MZ generation accounts for 52%, showing a high preference for 5G plans centered on the MZ generation.”

The newly launched plans are two types: ‘5G Call Unlimited 20GB’ (26,900 KRW per month), which offers unlimited voice calls, unlimited texts, and 20GB of data, and ‘5G Data Enough 20GB/200 Minutes’ (24,900 KRW per month), which offers 200 minutes of voice calls, 100 texts, and 20GB of data.

In the 5G market divided into high data plans of over 100GB and low data plans under 10GB, the addition of a 20GB range lineup expands customers’ choices for 5G plans. The 5G plans are available at a reasonable price in the 20,000 KRW range, which is expected to reduce household communication expenses.
