Ulsan Road Construction Gains Momentum... 245.5 Billion Won Budget Secured for This Year

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Ulsan city has secured a budget of about 250 billion KRW for road construction projects within the city this year, giving momentum to the establishment of a comprehensive road network.

On the 3rd, Ulsan city announced that it secured a total of 245.5 billion KRW for road construction this year, including 190.8 billion KRW in national funds and 54.7 billion KRW in city funds.

Accordingly, ongoing construction projects promoted by Ulsan city for building the road network, such as the Ulsan Outer Ring Expressway, are expected to proceed smoothly.

The national road projects include ▲Ulsan Outer Ring Road 158.1 billion KRW ▲Nongso~Oedong National Road 20 billion KRW ▲Cheongnyang~Okdong National Road 9.5 billion KRW ▲Construction of the 2nd Myeongchon Bridge 1 billion KRW ▲Expansion of National Road No. 14 (Ulju Beomseo~Gyeongju boundary) 2 billion KRW ▲Improvement of National Road No. 69 (Ulju Sangbuk~Unmun Tunnel) 200 million KRW, totaling 190.8 billion KRW.

The Ulsan Outer Ring Road construction project is currently under negotiation with the central government regarding the total project cost to proceed with construction in the second half of this year.

For the Nongso~Oedong National Road construction project, structural works such as the Cheonma Tunnel are being actively promoted, and the Cheongnyang~Okdong National Road construction project, which connects to the section opened in September last year on Iye-ro, is scheduled to be completed in October this year, opening the entire section of National Road No. 7 connecting Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongju.

The 2nd Myeongchon Bridge construction project, expansion of National Road No. 14 (Beomseo~Gyeongju boundary), and National Road No. 69 (Sangbuk~Unmun Tunnel) improvement projects will proceed with detailed design.

Additionally, city-funded road projects include ▲Expansion of the road from Eonyang Police Station to Seoburi 16.2 billion KRW ▲Road construction from Deokha Market to Petrochemical Complex 5.3 billion KRW ▲Expansion of the road from Sinhyeon Intersection to former Gangdong Middle School 5 billion KRW ▲Expansion of Jangsaengpo Circular Road 4 billion KRW ▲Expansion of the road from Deokjeong Intersection to Onsan-ro 3.2 billion KRW ▲Dongcheon Embankment Combined Road (Left Bank) 3 billion KRW ▲Expansion of the road from Beomseo Hi-Pass IC to Cheonsang Lower Ramp 3 billion KRW ▲Road construction from Dalcheon I’park to Cheongok Stream 2.9 billion KRW ▲Road construction between Gilcheon Industrial Complex and Jihwa Village 2 billion KRW, totaling 54.7 billion KRW.

The road expansion project at Eonyang Police Station was delayed due to insufficient compensation funds, but with the remaining compensation and construction budget secured this year, construction can now begin. The expansion of the road in front of Eonyang Police Station is expected to improve urban aesthetics and alleviate vehicle congestion around Eonyang Market.

Three road construction projects around the Petrochemical Complex, Deokjeong Intersection, and Dalcheon I’park, which were delayed due to lack of construction funds, will also commence construction this year.

The road construction project from Deokha Market to the Petrochemical Complex, promoted to ease the inconvenience of large vehicle traffic to the Ulsan Petrochemical Industrial Complex, is directly connected to Onsan-ro, facilitating industrial freight transport and helping reduce logistics costs for companies.

Compensation is being pursued for the Jangsaengpo Circular Road and Gilcheon Industrial Complex road construction projects, and phased construction will begin for the Sinhyeon Intersection area, Beomseo Hi-Pass IC connection project, and Dongcheon Embankment Combined Road (Left Bank) project.

An official from Ulsan city said, “With the road construction project budget secured at the right time, the promotion of the comprehensive road network construction project has gained momentum.”
