[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] France has urged other European Union (EU) member states to conduct COVID-19 tests on arrivals from China.

On the 1st (local time), France announced this as it began random COVID-19 testing on passengers arriving at French airports from China by plane.

During the random testing conducted at Charles de Gaulle International Airport until the 31st of this month, arrivals from China who test positive for COVID-19 must self-isolate for 7 days.

Starting from the 5th, passengers boarding flights to France from China must submit a certificate proving a negative PCR or antigen test result taken within 48 hours before departure.

According to local media, Fran?ois Braun, Minister of Health, said in a press briefing at the airport on the same day, "We will push for this method to be applied throughout the EU."

So far, among the 27 EU member states, only France, Spain, and Italy have set policies requiring arrivals from China to submit proof of a negative COVID-19 test.
