Geochang-gun Secures Record High 264.3 Billion KRW in National and Provincial Funding This Year

Business Momentum Increases by 21.6% and 47.1 Billion Won Compared to Last Year

County Governor Gu In-mo is visiting Gyeongnam Province to secure budget funding.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, has secured a record-high 264.3 billion KRW in national and provincial funding for 2023, giving momentum to the promotion of pending projects.

This year's national and provincial funding increased by 107.6 billion KRW compared to the initial amount of 156.7 billion KRW secured in 2019 during the 7th local government term, and by 47.1 billion KRW compared to 2022, setting a new record in both scale and increase amount.

Major national and provincial budget projects reflected in 2023 include agricultural and forestry sectors such as ▲Dongsan Village Rural Space Improvement Project with 2.4 billion KRW ▲Leading Forest Management Complex Creation Project with 1.5 billion KRW ▲Second-year project cost for Agricultural Worker Dormitory Construction with 400 million KRW.

In the land and regional development sector, funding was secured for ▲Geoyeolsanseong Access Road Construction with 5 billion KRW ▲Gamaksan Area Eco-friendly Energy Tourism Facility Development with 3.2 billion KRW ▲Public Building Green Remodeling with 3.7 billion KRW.

In culture, sports, and tourism sectors, projects include ▲All-weather Tennis Court Expansion within the Sports Park with 2.6 billion KRW ▲Gamaksan Barrier-free Sharing Path Creation Project with 800 million KRW ▲Anti-aging Healing Land Boardwalk Path Creation Project with 900 million KRW.

In health and safety sectors, funding was secured for ▲Gogyeoncheon Natural Disaster Risk Improvement District Maintenance Project with 700 million KRW ▲Geochang County Elderly Nursing Hospital Remodeling with 600 million KRW ▲Major Accident Prevention for Industrial Safety and Health with 400 million KRW.

Budgets to respond to local extinction include ▲Korea Elevator University Old Dormitory Remodeling Project with 3 billion KRW ▲Urban Branding Project Utilizing Elevator Industry Resources with 2 billion KRW ▲Comprehensive Welfare System Construction for SME Workers with 800 million KRW.

The county secured funding through National Assembly budget activities for national direct projects such as ▲Geochang Songjeong~Daepyeong National Road New Construction Design Fee with 300 million KRW ▲Hwanggang River Environment Maintenance Project with 18 billion KRW.

Gu In-mo, Geochang County Governor, stated, “Securing the budget is a fundamental activity to improve the quality of life for residents and lay the foundation for Geochang-gun’s future. Following 2023, we will devote full efforts from the beginning of the year to secure the largest scale again in 2024.”
