Professor Kwon Taekhwan of Daegu National University of Education Appointed President of Daegu Teachers' Union ... "Will Not Tolerate Unjust Teacher Rights Violations" Kwon Taek-hwan, President of Daegu Gyotong.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Koo Dae-sun] Kwon Taek-hwan (58), president of the Daegu Teachers' Association Federation (Daegu Gyotong), was inaugurated on the 2nd at the Daegu Gyotong Hall in Daemyeong-dong, Nam-gu, Daegu.


President Kwon replaced the inauguration ceremony with a presidential inauguration ceremony and donated all inauguration expenses to the teachers' rights fund.


Kwon, a professor at Daegu National University of Education, has received much attention and expectation as he is well aware of policy trends through his extensive field experience ranging from teachers, education professionals, to universities, and has actively worked in various key positions of the Korea Teachers' Association, such as acting president and senior vice president.


President Kwon expressed his ambition, saying, "During my term, I will firmly protect the honor of teachers from unjust infringements on teachers' rights in the current social climate and lay the foundation to enhance the pride of the teaching profession," and added, "I will also strive to improve the quality of life through the realization of field-demanded policies that encompass all generations and the expansion of member welfare services."


President Kwon was elected unopposed in the 16th Daegu Gyotong presidential election, and his term is three years until the end of December 2025.


Along with President Kwon, four vice presidents were appointed to lead Daegu Gyotong: Park Jae-woo (teacher at Daesan Elementary School, Daegu), Kim Hye-jin (vice principal at Bibong Elementary School, Daegu), Kim Young-jin (teacher at Neungin High School), and Lim Sung-wook (principal at Gyeongsang Technical High School).
