[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency's Legal Safety and Forensic Science Research Association announced on the 2nd that it achieved first place nationwide in the 2022 National Police Agency Field Study Group Final Evaluation.
The research association, led by Chairman Kim Jeonghak, was established in 2018 with forensic investigators as a field study group of the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency's Forensic Science Division. It operates with the learning goals of "social safety from crime, public safety from accidents, and national safety from terrorism."
They conducted research on forensic investigation techniques for crimes, identification of causes of fire and explosion safety accidents, and development of anti-terror forensic investigation (Post Blast Investigation) techniques.
As a result, last year they received the grand prize for the "Study on Arson Cases Involving Flammable Materials" and won the excellence award for the "Study on Banknote Fingerprint Development Techniques."
They were also recognized for securing forensic expertise through activities such as hosting forensic science talk concerts, engaging in private sector collaboration including forensic work agreements, and publishing the monthly magazine "Forensic Science Focus."
Chairman Kim said, "We have once again achieved first place nationwide following 2018," and added, "We will continue to be a group that steadily learns through experiments and research to address difficulties and issues arising at crime scenes."
