Opening Ceremony Held, The Key to Growth is Establishing a 'Stage' for Continuous Development
O Tae-wan, the governor of Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam, is emphasizing 'policy consistency' at the opening ceremony.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Wook] On the 2nd, Oh Tae-wan, the mayor of Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam, emphasized ‘policy steady progress’ at the opening ceremony, stating that he will lay the groundwork and establish a growth foundation step by step to create opportunities for development for the next 50 years of Uiryeong’s future.
At the opening ceremony held at 9 a.m. in the main conference room, Mayor Oh introduced ‘steady progress’ as the keyword for 2023. He said, “The residents are full of anticipation to sow the seeds of change on the land of harmony that has been cultivated,” adding, “I will walk steadily on the right path, focusing solely on the residents to achieve the goals we have set.”
Mayor Oh’s emphasis on ‘steady progress’ in his first speech of 2023 reflects a strong will of ‘an unyielding spirit’ in addition to the smoothly sailing ‘Oh Tae-wan administration’s policy steady progress.’
He introduced the ‘strong spirit’ of Lee Geuk-ro, a Korean language scholar and independence activist from Uiryeong who, 100 years ago in 1923 during the harsh Japanese colonial period, first established a Korean language course at a prestigious German university. He stated that he will never waver for the positive changes in Uiryeong-gun. This is Mayor Oh’s strong determination never to compromise with those who hinder harmony in Uiryeong-gun and plot division.
This determination is based on Mayor Oh’s confidence.
He mentioned that in 2022, Uiryeong-gun achieved countless accomplishments with numerous ‘best,’ ‘first,’ and ‘largest’ policy titles, too many to list individually, and that this year will truly be a year of ‘Sangjeonbyeokhae (桑田碧海)’?a complete transformation?for Uiryeong-gun.
Mayor Oh explained that this year, Uiryeong-gun will become “a charming city where people come to visit, live, and work,” adding, “With the opening of the Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education’s Future Education Center, 400,000 people will visit Uiryeong annually, and the Burim Industrial Complex will be completed, creating a production value of 1.4 trillion won and employment for over 4,200 people. The urban regeneration projects selected in a relay fashion will gradually be completed, transforming Uiryeong’s downtown area dramatically.”
He continued, “Through ‘policy steady progress,’ we will prepare a ‘new Uiryeong’ step by step,” and said, “We will design the future dynamically and challenge aggressively. We will continuously embrace change and innovation in front of a different dimension of Uiryeong-gun.”
Mayor Oh said, “The Rich Rich Festival has implanted a ‘success DNA’ in Uiryeong-gun,” and added, “Together with the wise residents, we will overcome uncertainties and create greater hope.”
