The Korean Buddhist Promotion Foundation Supports Buddhist Popularization Content

[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The Korea Buddhist Promotion Foundation will conduct four major public contests in the second half of 2023 to promote Buddhism in accordance with its founding purpose of modernizing, popularizing, and integrating Buddhism into daily life.


First, until February 7, a contest for the 6th Daewon Youth Buddhist Award and Club Award will be held, awarding Buddhist scholarships to clubs at elementary, middle, high schools, and universities (including graduate schools) nationwide. The prize money is 3 million KRW for individual university and graduate student categories, and 500,000 to 1.5 million KRW for group categories.


Until February 24, the 6th Buddhist Institution and Organization Support Project contest will be held. Organizations that have contributed to the promotion of Buddhism will be selected and awarded prize money ranging from 1.5 million to 5 million KRW.


Until March 4, the 13th Wonhyo Academic Award contest will be held. Scholars who have highlighted Buddhism in the humanities and social sciences fields will be selected and awarded. The prize money is 30 million KRW for the grand prize in the scholar category, 15 million KRW for the special prize, and 4 to 8 million KRW for the student (master’s and doctoral) category.


Until March 17, the 7th Daewon Buddhist Academic and Content Contest will be held. Researchers and organizations conducting Buddhist-related research will be selected and provided with research funding. The research funding amounts are 3 to 12 million KRW for the academic category and 5 to 12 million KRW for the content category.
