Selection of Artists with High Contribution to Regional Cultural Development
[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Cheol-hoon] Jeonnam Yeosu City (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced on the 2nd that three veteran artists from the Yeosu region have been selected as ‘Honorary Artists of Jeollanam-do.’
Jeollanam-do first established the “Jeollanam-do Honorary Artist Designation and Operation Ordinance” in May 2022, selecting artists who have contributed to the development of local culture and arts to enhance their pride.
In Yeosu City this time, ▲ Fine Arts category - Kang Jong-rae ▲ Literature category - Lee Seong-gwan ▲ Music category - Park Woong-rae were recognized for their achievements and selected as the ‘2022 Jeollanam-do Honorary Artists.’
Those selected as Jeollanam-do Honorary Artists receive a certificate along with a plaque of the ‘House of Honorary Artists.’
In addition, they receive support for book publication and preferential treatment in cultural and artistic support projects by Jeollanam-do and the Cultural Foundation, and they are promoted through provincial publications, websites, and social media.
A Yeosu City official said, “It was because of the veteran cultural artists who have continued vigorous creative activities that local culture and arts could continuously develop. We hope they will continue to lead the local cultural and artistic community, and the city will do its best to support them.”
