[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Korea Forest Service announced on the 2nd that it was selected as an excellent institution for two consecutive years in the '2022 Data-Driven Administration Inspection' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The inspection is conducted on 467 central administrative agencies, local governments, and public institutions in accordance with the 'Act on the Promotion of Data-Driven Administration.'
The evaluation consists of 8 indicators in 4 areas: establishment of a data-driven administration promotion system, promotion of data sharing, data-driven administrative innovation, and strengthening data utilization capabilities and culture.
Based on the evaluation results, the target institutions receive ratings such as excellent, average, or insufficient.
The Korea Forest Service was selected as an excellent institution by receiving high scores in establishing a data-driven administration promotion system and promoting its own data analysis projects.
In particular, it was highly evaluated for collaborating with KT Corporation to analyze floating population data based on smartphone signals to crack down on illegal activities in forests, and for providing forest spatial information such as forest stand maps and site soil maps to other institutions, enabling all institutions to realize data-driven administration.
Kang Dae-ik, Information and Statistics Officer of the Korea Forest Service, said, “It seems that efforts such as recognizing the importance of data and strengthening data utilization capabilities have led to good results. The Korea Forest Service will continue to achieve scientific forest management based on data through various data analyses.”
