[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Sohn Kyung-shik, Chairman of CJ Group, emphasized to employees in his New Year's address on the 2nd that "we must leap forward as a global lifestyle company."

Chairman Sohn stated, "This year marks the first year of executing the 2025 mid-term strategy," and added, "We must achieve future innovative growth based on CJ's core value, OnlyOne."

Specifically, he urged, "Affiliates should thoroughly implement bold and swift investments, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), centered on innovative growth businesses, based on the four major future growth engines: culture, platform, wellness, and sustainability, continuously expanding into new areas and territories." He also promised, "Talent enables innovative growth. We will guarantee diverse opportunities and fair competition, and further strengthen exceptional rewards for outstanding performance."

Additionally, he called for "redefining and early establishing of super-gap capabilities in core businesses to secure and strengthen structural competitiveness that global competitors cannot surpass," emphasizing the refinement of performance indicators, acceleration of digital transformation, and bold investment in research and development.

Chairman Sohn emphasized, "The rapidly changing domestic and international business environment is both a crisis and a great opportunity for a leap forward. Whether we make a quantum jump to become a global major player or simply settle for the domestic market and decline depends on how much super-gap capabilities and top talent we secure this year, and how boldly we plan and thoroughly execute future strategies."
