[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Busan City is utilizing part of the first floor of City Hall’s Busan Future City Hall to create the ‘2030 Busan World Expo Promotion Video Hall,’ which will open on January 2.

The ‘2030 Busan World Expo Promotion Video Hall’ is an engaging experiential space designed to help everyone, from children to adults, easily understand the 2030 Busan World Expo that Busan City and the government are aiming to host.

Looking at the space, visitors can first see the back wall featuring the autographs of BTS, the promotional ambassadors for the 2030 Busan World Expo, at the entrance of the video hall. The back wall measures 6.4 meters wide and 2.8 meters high, with its surface covered by tempered glass.

The signatures on this back wall were actually signed by the globally popular group BTS when they were appointed as promotional ambassadors for the 2030 Busan World Expo on July 19. Visitors can add their own signatures on the tempered glass surface and experience becoming a promotional ambassador for the 2030 Busan World Expo alongside BTS.

After passing through the entrance, visitors enter the ‘spaceship interior space’ featuring a time machine that allows them to take a time travel journey through past World Expos.

This area serves as a waiting space before boarding the time machine and provides visitors with preliminary learning about the ‘2030 Busan World Expo.’

The preliminary learning content avoids excessive explanations and naturally allows visitors to visually absorb the necessity of hosting and the main and sub-themes through infographics. Actor Lee Jung-jae, a promotional ambassador for the 2030 Busan World Expo, also explains the expo through a video.

After the preliminary learning, the time machine doors open, and a large curved panoramic wide screen measuring 14 meters wide, 4.2 meters high, and curved at 173 degrees displays a high-quality 3D graphic immersive video of the World Expo using advanced production techniques.

The immersive video consists of a waiting video of about 30 to 40 seconds showing media art of the World Expo logo visualizing waves of people, cooperation, harmony, and innovation, and a main video of 4 minutes and 30 seconds that takes viewers on a time travel journey aboard the time machine inside the spaceship, from the first-ever World Expo held in London, UK in 1851 to the 2030 Busan World Expo site. After the screening, visitors can also experience short videos and explanations through interactive devices.

The promotion video hall will operate not only on weekdays (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) but also on weekends (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) at 30-minute intervals, starting from its opening on January 2, to allow citizens to enjoy it more easily during this important year for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid.

Weekday operations will focus on group tours, while weekends will allow free use by families.

Group tours will primarily target upper elementary school students (grades 4 to 6) as the main audience. After the experience, a simple quiz event will be held, and small promotional souvenirs will be provided, making it an enjoyable time to learn about the value of the 2030 Busan World Expo that will realize the imagination of future generations.

Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, said, “Through the promotion video hall, visitors will be able to vividly experience past World Expos, which could only be seen in black-and-white photos, through videos and learn how World Expos have evolved over time. Especially, it will be a special experience to personally understand why Busan, South Korea, must host the 2030 World Expo.”
