Ulsan Introduces New Year's 'Parent Allowance'... 700,000 KRW Monthly for 0-Year-Olds, 350,000 KRW for 1-Year-Olds

Ulsan Introduces New Year's 'Parent Allowance'... 700,000 KRW Monthly for 0-Year-Olds, 350,000 KRW for 1-Year-Olds Ulsan City Hall.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Starting from the new year, 'Parent Allowance' will be introduced in Ulsan.

Ulsan City announced on the 2nd that from January this year, the existing infant allowance will be reorganized into a parent allowance, and all parents raising children under the age of 1 will receive the parent allowance.

The support amount will be 700,000 KRW per month for parents raising children aged 0 (0-11 months), and 350,000 KRW per month for parents raising children aged 1 (12-23 months), regardless of occupation, income, or property.

However, if daycare centers are used, the parent allowance amount will be paid after deducting the childcare fee support amount.

Accordingly, when raising a 0-year-old child at home, the full amount is paid in cash, and if the child is enrolled in a daycare center, the remaining difference of 186,000 KRW after excluding the childcare voucher of 514,000 KRW will be paid the following month through post-settlement.

For 1-year-old children enrolled in daycare centers, since the parent allowance amount is less than the childcare fee, the voucher will be provided through a childcare fee change application without additional payment of the difference.

Applications for the parent allowance can be made at the local eup/myeon/dong administrative welfare center simultaneously with the birth registration and integrated pregnancy and childbirth processing application, or through the Bokjiro or Government24 websites.

Kim Yeon-ok, Director of Welfare and Women’s Affairs at Ulsan City, said, “Expanding the infant allowance to a parent allowance is expected to guarantee income lost after childbirth, create a safe and high-quality childcare environment, and significantly alleviate the parenting burden on parents.”
