Presumed to Have Fallen Outside Japan's EEZ
"Threat to International Peace, Unacceptable"
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Japanese Defense Minister Hamada Yasukazu stated in the early hours of the 1st that the ballistic missile launched by North Korea had a range of 350 km and a maximum altitude of 100 km.
According to NHK and Kyodo News, Defense Minister Hamada told reporters at the Ministry of Defense around 4 a.m. that North Korea launched one ballistic missile into the East Sea at around 2:50 a.m. that day.
Defense Minister Hamada estimated that North Korea's ballistic missile fell outside Japan's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). He explained that no damage to ships or aircraft has been confirmed so far.
Regarding North Korea's continued ballistic missile launches, Defense Minister Hamada said, "It is absolutely unacceptable as it threatens the peace and stability of the region and the international community," and "We strongly condemn it as a violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions."
The Japanese government lodged a protest with North Korea regarding the ballistic missile launch through the Beijing embassy channel.
