[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do achieved excellent results in evaluations by external organizations such as the government and Jeollanam-do throughout this year.
According to the county on the 30th, in evaluations by central government ministries, it ranked first among county-level units in the new government's local regulation innovation performance evaluation, received excellence in the regional job target disclosure system performance evaluation, and was awarded the highest rating in the comprehensive evaluation of the cadastral resurvey project, among 9 awards totaling 758 million KRW in prize money.
In particular, it was selected as the best institution in the local price stabilization management evaluation and received a financial incentive of 100 million KRW.
Additionally, through various policies such as water bill reductions for Good Price Businesses, freezing local public utility fees, and holding price countermeasure committees, it helped small business owners overcome economic crises and alleviated the suffering of residents caused by high inflation.
In external evaluations such as those by Jeollanam-do, it was recognized for excellence in regional economic revitalization for three consecutive years, excellence in comprehensive investment attraction evaluation, the highest rating in agricultural administration comprehensive evaluation for four consecutive years, and the highest rating in agricultural product distribution and agro-food business evaluation for six consecutive years, receiving prize money of 297 million KRW across 31 awards, widely acknowledging the excellence of county administration.
This year, a total of 45 projects were selected through public contests, securing 25.7 billion KRW in external funding.
Major selected projects include the Digital Twin Land pilot project (1.4 billion KRW), next year's natural disaster risk improvement district maintenance project (26.5 billion KRW), support project for expanding sports facilities (2.3 billion KRW), and livestock odor improvement contest project (3.5 billion KRW), enabling the enhancement of residents' quality of life.
Since the launch of the 8th local government administration, there have been significant achievements through efforts such as three visits to central government ministries and five visits to the National Assembly.
Following the securing of 16 billion KRW for the Yellow Croaker Farming Industrialization Center and 6.74 billion KRW in special grants, an additional 4.873 billion KRW in national funds was secured.
The newly reflected National Road No. 77 Baeksu Daesin District hazardous road improvement project, with a total project cost of 30 billion KRW, secured design fees for 2023, resolving a long-standing issue for residents.
For next year and 2024, 1 billion KRW in national funds was secured for the Yeonggwang e-Mobility Expo, enabling smooth preparations for the 2025 e-Mobility International Expo.
County Governor Kang Jongman said, “This was possible because all public officials worked together with one heart to improve the quality of life that residents can feel and be happy about,” adding, “In the new year of the Year of the Rabbit, we will devote all our efforts to building a great Yeonggwang with a community spirit of ‘us’ and ‘coexistence.’”
