Dongtan City Hospital announced that it has become the first orthopedic hospital in Hwaseong City to obtain certification in the 3rd cycle of the Medical Institution Evaluation by the Ministry of Health and Welfare's Medical Institution Accreditation Evaluation Institute.
The medical institution accreditation system is a program implemented to encourage medical institutions to continuously strive to improve patient safety and the quality of medical services, thereby providing high-quality services to medical consumers. The Medical Institution Accreditation Evaluation Institute under the Ministry of Health and Welfare grants a valid certification mark for four years to medical institutions that achieve a certain level or higher based on the announced accreditation survey.
Dongtan City Hospital, which obtained the 2nd cycle medical institution accreditation in February 2018, formed a QPS team to continuously research and improve patient safety and medical quality through QI activities. They pursued patient safety and medical quality improvement through regular education, monitoring, and competitions for all staff members.
As a result, in the medical institution accreditation survey conducted at the end of August, the hospital received high evaluations across a total of 520 survey items composed of four areas: ▲Basic Value System (patient safety assurance activities), ▲Patient Care System (care delivery system and evaluation, patient care, medication management, surgery and anesthesia sedation management, respect and protection of patient rights), ▲Organizational Management System (quality improvement and patient safety activities, infection control, management and organizational operation, human resource management, facility and environment management, medical information/medical record management), and ▲Performance Management System (performance management), covering 13 chapters and 91 standards.
By obtaining the 3rd cycle medical institution accreditation, Dongtan City Hospital has once again been recognized for the quality of its medical services and excellence in patient management. The certification is valid from December 28, 2022, to December 27, 2026.

Meanwhile, Dongtan City Hospital has been recognized for its contributions to community welfare enhancement, receiving commendations from the National Assembly Health and Welfare Committee Chairman, a National Assembly member commendation, and the Elderly Medical Sharing Award.
