Up to 50% Discount on Food and Daily Necessities

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Large supermarkets have launched discount events on major food items and daily necessities to welcome the New Year.
On the 31st, Emart is holding the 'DAY 1' event until the 1st of next month, offering discounts of up to 50% on over 200 products. They are selling a pack of two 30-egg cartons (Ipanran) for 9,980 KRW, which is more than 40% cheaper than usual. On the 31st, imported pork belly and neck (refrigerated) will be offered at 1,180 KRW per 100g, and on the 1st, domestic pork belly and neck (refrigerated) will be sold at 1,488 KRW per 100g. Brand-name Korean beef can also be purchased at a 40% discount when paid in full with the event card.
All cereal products are part of a 1+1 promotion. Domestic tofu, refrigerated dressings, gochujang and doenjang, frozen fried dumplings, frozen side dishes, pasta sauces, frozen pork cutlets, and instant curry and jjajang are also included in the 1+1 promotion. Five types of Peacock meal kits offer a 50% discount when purchasing two. Ten types of Peacock home stew products are also available at 50% off when buying two. Kitchen towels, wet wipes, body lotion, lip care, hand wash and hand cream, shaving foam, and all Perio toothpaste products offer a 50% discount when purchasing two.
Lotte Mart is running a year-end and New Year discount event until the 4th. On the 31st and 1st, L.POINT members can purchase first-grade Korean beef sirloin (100g) for 5,990 KRW. Korean beef soup cuts and bulgogi for rice cake soup (100g) are sold at 3,640 KRW each, and Korean beef bone broth and mixed bones (1.5kg) are offered at a 50% discount. In the deli corner, Namhaean fried oysters and family sets of jokbal are available for 12,800 KRW and 19,800 KRW, respectively, and a variety sushi set (24 pieces) can be purchased for 23,800 KRW. In the meal kit corner, L.POINT members can buy pork kimchi hot pot and hometown-style chadol doenjang jjigae for 12,900 KRW and 9,900 KRW, respectively.

On the 31st and 1st, customers who purchase over 40,000 KRW with the event card will also receive a 2,000 KRW gift certificate. Brand-name pork belly and neck (100g) can be purchased at a 50% discount using eight major credit cards. Over 20 types of snacks, biscuits, energy bars, and pies, as well as three types of Post cereals, are sold as 1+1 promotions, and about 50 types of beverages including juice and tea are also included in the event items. A Homeplus official said, "Following last year, we planned a large-scale discount event to repay customers who supported us throughout the year, so that they can shop without burden despite high prices."
