Shinan Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Expected to Increase Sevenfold Soon
[Sinan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] Jeonnam Sinan-gun has completed the construction of 14 fast charging stations with a capacity of 100kW for electric vehicles through an agreement with LG HelloVision.
In April, Sinan-gun and LG HelloVision were selected for the "2022 Regional Zero-Emission Vehicle Transition Brand Project," organized by the Ministry of Environment and sponsored by the Korea Automobile Environment Association, achieving the installation of charging stations in island areas.
These charging stations will be available from January next year, primarily installed in island areas such as Bigeum, Dochodo, Heuksan, Haoi, Sinui, and Jangsan, where there were no electric vehicle charging stations. This is expected to effectively respond to the increasing demand for charging and contribute to the expansion of electric vehicle adoption.
Starting in 2023, Sinan-gun plans to actively expand the supply of eco-friendly vehicles such as electric cars by providing an additional subsidy of 2 million KRW when converting diesel vehicles on small islands to eco-friendly vehicles, and through an agreement with LG U+, plans to install 100 slow chargers.
This will increase the number of electric charging stations by about seven times compared to now, significantly alleviating the inconvenience caused by the lack of charging stations in island areas.
A Sinan-gun official stated, "We plan to continuously promote projects necessary for carbon neutrality, such as expanding electric vehicle charging infrastructure and building hydrogen charging stations," adding, "Through these efforts, Sinan-gun, registered as a World Natural Heritage site for its Korean tidal flats, will proactively respond to the government's Green New Deal and carbon neutrality policies."
In addition, Sinan-gun has been promoting a project since 2020 in cooperation with Gwangju Bank, which signed a business agreement to support interest on loans (up to 30 million KRW) for residents purchasing electric vehicles to activate the supply of environmentally friendly electric vehicles.
