Sancheong-gun Recognized with 12 Awards from Government and Gyeongnam Province Agencies

Remarkable Achievements in Various Evaluation Reports

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] As a result of efforts by Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam, to be selected for government public offering projects throughout this year, it has been revealed that projects worth about 260 billion KRW are being promoted. In addition, the county received numerous institutional awards in various evaluations, recognizing its achievements.

According to Sancheong-gun on the 29th, 20 government public offering projects and national and provincial subsidy projects worth 35.6 billion KRW were selected this year.

Including ongoing projects such as the Rural Hub Revitalization Project, a total of 54 public offering projects worth 262.3 billion KRW are being promoted.

The newly selected public offering projects this year mainly consist of resident living environment improvement projects such as ▲Rural Space Maintenance Project (25 billion KRW) and ▲Improvement Project for Living Conditions in Vulnerable Rural Areas (1.6 billion KRW).

For the Rural Space Maintenance Project, by 2026, a residential complex including rental houses for returnees to farming and rural areas and landscape infrastructure will be established in the area of Morye-ri, Sindeung-myeon to improve rural living conditions.

The Improvement Project for Living Conditions in Vulnerable Rural Areas aims to improve residents' living conditions by demolishing vacant houses, repairing old houses, and strengthening resident capabilities in Naejeong Village, Sancheong-eup by 2025.

Along with these, regional development projects such as ▲Pilot Project for Performance Improvement of Aged Infrastructure (1.9 billion KRW), ▲Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project (1.7 billion KRW), and ▲Traditional Market Facility Modernization Project (900 million KRW) were also included.

The Pilot Project for Performance Improvement of Aged Infrastructure plans to prevent damage such as overflow and farmland flooding during heavy rains by improving the performance of the aged embankment at Sangbeopcheon, Sindeung-myeon, and enhance convenience for infrastructure users.

The Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project is expected to contribute to reducing fuel costs for local residents by installing renewable energy facilities such as solar power in houses, public, and commercial buildings in the areas of Sinan, Saengbiryang, and Sindeung-myeon.

The Traditional Market Facility Modernization Project plans to improve the aging facilities of Dange Market in Sindeung-myeon to prevent safety accidents and create a pleasant traditional market environment.

Such active promotion of public offering projects by Sancheong-gun is being evaluated as a foundation for regional development.

In particular, these efforts have been recognized by receiving 12 institutional awards in various field evaluations conducted by the government, Gyeongnam Province, and other institutions throughout this year.

Among the awards, Sancheong-gun was selected as the best in the ‘2022 Eco-friendly Ecological Agriculture Promotion City/County Evaluation’ hosted by Gyeongnam Province and received 50 million KRW.

Notably, among the special zones in Gyeongnam, the Sancheong Herbal Medicine Industry Special Zone was the only one to receive a ministerial award again last year.

Additionally, Sancheong-gun earned honors in various fields including ▲Grand Prize at the 8th Korea Representative Specialty Products Direct Trade Expo ▲Best City/County Evaluation in Forest Resource Sector (Forest Management) in 2022 ▲Best City/County Evaluation in Urban Forest and Green Space Creation Project in 2022 ▲Excellent City/County Evaluation in Forest Resource Sector (Afforestation) in 2022 ▲Encouragement Award in Gyeongnam Agricultural and Marine Products Export Tower Evaluation.

Furthermore, it was recognized for ▲Meritorious Service in National and Social Development through Reserve Forces Training ▲Contribution to Establishing Gas Safety Culture ▲Promotion of Local Culture and Arts ▲Development of Civil Defense ▲Promotion of Statistical Work.

Along with this, public officials, civilians, institutions, and organizations affiliated with Sancheong-gun also received awards in various categories throughout this year.
