[Asia Economy (Gwangmyeong) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) held a groundbreaking ceremony on the 28th for Hakon Station on the Sinansan Line, which will dramatically improve transportation convenience in the Gwangmyeong Hakon Public Housing District.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by GH President Kim Se-yong, Gwangmyeong Mayor Park Seung-won, members of the National Assembly, and provincial and city council members.
Hakon Station on the Sinansan Line is a key infrastructure facility planned at the center of the Gwangmyeong Hakon District. Once Hakon Station opens in 2026, it will be possible to travel to Seoul (Yeouido) within 20 minutes.
GH, together with Gwangmyeong City, LH, and other related organizations, signed an agreement last June with Next Train Co., Ltd., the private operator of the Sinansan Line double-track railway project, to establish Hakon Station and has been promoting the project since then.
The Gwangmyeong Hakon District is one of the four projects of the Gwangmyeong-Siheung Technovalley implemented by GH. It is a residential complex for workers in the Gwangmyeong-Siheung Technovalley, building 4,317 housing units on a 684,000㎡ site in Gahak-dong, Gwangmyeong City.
The Gwangmyeong-Siheung Technovalley project involves developing general industrial complexes, distribution complexes, advanced industrial complexes, and the Gwangmyeong Hakon District in areas including Gahak-dong in Gwangmyeong City and Nongok-dong in Siheung City.
GH President Kim Se-yong emphasized, "With the groundbreaking of Hakon Station, the Gwangmyeong-Siheung Technovalley has become the best transportation hub in the southwestern metropolitan area," adding, "GH will continue to make every effort to supply public housing equipped with convenient living facilities and to establish a regional economic base."
