SPC "99% Compliance with Ministry of Labor Safety Supervision Measures"

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] SPC Group announced on the 28th that “a significant portion of improvement measures have been completed” regarding the results of the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s planned inspection released on the 27th, and added, “We will use this thorough improvement as an opportunity to create a better workplace.”

In a press release on the same day, SPC stated, “We sincerely apologize for causing concern to many people and humbly accept the pointed issues,” and “We began immediate improvements on the identified matters as soon as the investigation started, and have already completed measures on 276 out of 277 industrial safety-related cases, accounting for 99%.”

They also said, “Regarding the labor inspection results, about 80% of the measures have been completed, and we will promptly improve the remaining issues as well.”

Concerning the wage-related issues, SPC explained, “The overpayment occurred due to unfamiliarity with the recently revised substitute holiday-related laws, and there was no intentional wrongdoing,” and added, “We will thoroughly understand the relevant laws and strengthen education to prevent such mistakes from recurring.”

Meanwhile, SPC plans to hold a company-wide ‘Safety Management Proclamation Ceremony’ early next year, reflecting a firm commitment to change and a concrete vision.
