[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] Ssangyong Motor announced on the 28th that it will implement a safety driving service based on INFOCONN, which helps customers drive safely and also provides discounts on car insurance premiums.

Ssangyong Motor offers a promotion called the "Connected Car Safety Driving Discount Special Contract," a type of UBI (Usage-Based Insurance) that analyzes customers' vehicle driving data and provides insurance premium discounts through a partnership with KB Insurance.

Among subscribers to Ssangyong Motor's connected car system INFOCONN, customers who agree to use the "Safety Driving Service" have their driving information analyzed to provide a safety driving score. Customers can receive insurance premium discounts based on their safety driving score. The safety driving score is calculated based on the driver's driving data such as rapid acceleration, rapid deceleration, sudden braking, and the number of late-night driving instances.

If the safety driving score is 70 or higher based on records of driving over the past 90 days or more than 1000 km, customers receive a total insurance premium discount of 12.3% through the "Connected Car Safety Driving Discount Special Contract." Additionally, combining this with the ECO mileage discount allows customers to enjoy insurance premium discounts ranging from 5% to 35% depending on the driving distance.

Furthermore, customers can receive up to a 30,000 KRW card discount when purchasing insurance through the INFOCONN website or application (app), and a 7% discount when equipped with lane departure and forward collision warning devices.

A Ssangyong Motor official stated, "Since July 2022, we have been providing the Safety Driving Service (Connected Car Safety Driving Discount Special Contract) through a partnership with Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance, and we plan to continuously expand partnerships with insurance companies in the future."
