Gyeongbuk Province, Evaluation of Regional Development Project Performance
"Effectiveness in Discovering Differentiated Projects and Attracting Private Capital"

Gyeongbuk Province announced on the 27th that on the 26th, in the ‘2022 Regional Development Project Performance Evaluation’ conducted across all regional development project tasks including private capital investment attraction performance and infrastructure project promotion, Goryeong-gun was selected as the best institution, and Yeongju-si and Seongju-gun were selected as excellent institutions and awarded.
The selected excellent institutions received institutional awards along with prize money, and seven public officials who achieved results in promoting regional development projects were also awarded certificates of commendation.
In this evaluation, six indicators were applied to 72 districts and 66.7 billion KRW project costs of regional development projects promoted by Gyeongbuk Province for balanced development of underdeveloped areas: project promotion performance, private capital investment attraction, job creation, national and provincial fund execution performance, and city/county fund investment performance.
Goryeong-gun, selected as the best institution, received high scores in various fields such as attracting significant private capital and creating local jobs.
The ‘Dasan-myeon Youth Complex Returning-to-Farming Town Development Project,’ selected in June for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s regional development public contest project, is a project that leads the influx of young population into rural areas by creating rental housing for the residential stability of young farmers, which earned additional points.
Yeongju-si, selected as an excellent institution, received good evaluations for the ‘500-Year Punggi Ginseng Cultural Popup Park Development Project,’ which aimed to develop the Punggi ginseng industry, revitalize the local economy, and create jobs through the creation of a multipurpose cultural popup space and hosting the Ginseng Expo.
Seongju-gun received high scores in areas such as national and provincial fund-supported infrastructure execution performance and job creation performance through regional development projects.
The ‘Happy Village Dream Star Place Development Project Embracing the Stars’ is a project that improves residential conditions by supplying public rental housing and establishing living infrastructure, and it was selected in the 2022 regional development public contest project, receiving good scores.
The excellent cases discovered through this evaluation will be disseminated to cities and counties to encourage benchmarking, and for underperforming projects, problems will be analyzed and countermeasures prepared, actively reflecting these in future regional development project promotion improvements.
