Great Achievement in Three Areas: Smoking Cessation Projects, Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease Management, and Dementia Prevention Projects
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 26th that it received awards as an excellent institution in three categories?▲Operation of Smoking Cessation Clinic ▲Prevention and Management of Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases ▲Dementia Prevention Program?in the health promotion project evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and Gyeongsangnam-do.
The county was selected as a meritorious institution for smoking cessation in commemoration of the 35th World No Tobacco Day and received a plaque. Evaluating achievements such as smoking area inspections, smoking cessation clinic registration rates, and service provision rates, it was the only institution in Gyeongsangnam-do to receive the Minister of Health and Welfare’s Award.
In addition, at the cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease prevention project performance contest, it was recognized for its differentiated education and promotion efforts to improve residents’ awareness of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and enhance self-management capabilities, receiving the Governor’s Award for Excellence.
At the Dementia Overcoming Day ceremony last September, Geochang-gun secured 180 million KRW of county funds for the first time nationwide and operated a dementia prevention program utilizing 29 health centers and health clinics, receiving the Minister of Health and Welfare’s Award.
Geochang-gun’s achievement of winning three awards as an excellent institution is the result of Geochang-gun Public Health Center’s proactive implementation of both face-to-face and non-face-to-face projects on the front lines to protect the health of residents despite difficult conditions such as the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic causing interruptions in health promotion work.
County Governor Goo In-mo said, “I believe the excellent results in this year’s health promotion projects are due to all employees doing their best and the active participation of residents,” adding, “We will continue to strive to systematically operate various projects to promote the health of our residents.”
