LaserCell Selected as a Top 20 Global Semiconductor Leading Technology Company in Semiconductor Review

LaserCell Selected as a Top 20 Global Semiconductor Leading Technology Company in Semiconductor Review

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Laser platform specialist company LaserCell announced on the 26th that it has been selected as one of the global top 20 semiconductor leading technology companies by the global semiconductor media ‘Semiconductor Review’.

‘Semiconductor Review’ is a globally authoritative semiconductor media, often called the Michelin of the semiconductor industry, which annually selects and awards the world’s leading next-generation semiconductor technology companies based on expert evaluations.

This year, LaserCell was selected alongside Korean companies listed on KOSDAQ, including Nextin. Nextin is gaining attention as the only company competing with the global largest semiconductor measurement equipment company KLA in the recently applied dark field technology sector.

LaserCell’s LSR series, which applies area light source-airy laser based technology, was evaluated as a paradigm shift in semiconductor technology. According to Semiconductor Review, as technology advances, electronic devices continue to become thinner and smaller, semiconductors are becoming thinner and evolving into heterogeneous junction forms by function, requiring new technological responses.

Due to this, various soldering methods such as mass soldering are facing difficulties, but Semiconductor Review evaluated LaserCell’s area light source-airy laser technology as an excellent solution to soldering problems.

LaserCell stated that even before this evaluation, it has already been recognized for its technological capabilities in the semiconductor industry by successfully achieving initial mass production with several companies, including the world’s largest global foundry company. In particular, it is evaluated as the optimal technology for advanced heterogeneous junction semiconductors that mount a central processing unit (CPU) or graphics processing unit (GPU) and broadband memory in a single semiconductor package.

As electronic devices become thinner, defects such as semiconductor warping frequently occur during the manufacturing process, but LaserCell’s area light source-airy laser technology bonds only the necessary area with a laser within seconds, preventing warping issues even when multiple components are mounted in a single semiconductor package.

LaserCell provides the BSOM/NBOL-based LSR series to global semiconductor foundry companies, mobile device and display manufacturers, and electric vehicle secondary battery manufacturers. Despite the recent difficult semiconductor market conditions, the application of necessary technologies is ongoing, indicating a favorable market outlook.

The company stated, “With dozens of projects currently underway, we expect rapid sales expansion soon. From the fourth quarter of this year, significant sales growth is anticipated, and not only in the semiconductor-related fields but also in next-generation display sectors, results are emerging. The LSR series has also been selected and successfully supplied to a U.S. company producing the world’s largest smart devices.”

Namseong Kim, CTO and head of research at LaserCell, said, “Being selected as a global top 20 semiconductor leading technology company by Semiconductor Review is a great achievement made possible by the dedication and efforts of our technical staff with over 30 years of laser experience and business development employees over the past eight years.” He added, “Through our airy laser technology, we will continue to focus on research and development to achieve another technological paradigm shift in the global semiconductor industry.”
