[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] Seongpa Daejongsa, the Supreme Patriarch of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, stated on the 22nd in his New Year's Dharma talk for the Year of the Water Rabbit (Gyemyo) that "we must cultivate the virtues of patience and forgiving reconciliation to revive the human garden."
Seongpa Daejongsa diagnosed the current society as "divided by conflict, with hearts roughened by hatred and anger," and emphasized, "Those who establish a blue vow through the mind that creates all dharmas will build a new universe where seeking and finding are fulfilled. Those who become a great vessel of tolerance embracing all will gain the foundation of all virtues and enrich their neighbors."
He pointed out, "There is enlightenment that unties the knots of life before our eyes, and where the gaze reaches, there is a way out from entanglement. Since all Buddhas do not leave this mind, one should not seek outside but realize the Muwi Jin-in (無位眞人), the true person without rank who is entering and exiting before one's face."
Furthermore, he added, "On the New Year's morning, when sunlight is also embraced in the heart and becomes the light of original radiance, we must discard the old and cultivate the field of the mind where light is revived."
