Naju-si Advances 'Energy National Industrial Complex Development Project'... 308 Billion Won Invested

[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] On the 22nd, Naju City in Jeollanam-do announced that the Naju Energy National Industrial Complex project has finally passed the preliminary feasibility study conducted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance for public institutions.

According to the city, the Korea Development Institute (KDI) conducted a preliminary feasibility study on the Naju Energy National Industrial Complex, and the cost-benefit (B/C) ratio was 1.47, confirming its economic feasibility and validity.

The Naju Energy National Industrial Complex is planned to be developed by 2030 on a total area of 1.2 million square meters (approximately 360,000 pyeong) in Deoksan-ri, Wanggok-myeon, Naju City, adjacent to the Innovation Industrial Complex, with a total investment of 308 billion KRW.

It is expected to become a hub that enhances national competitiveness in new energy industries by supplying industrial facility sites for energy valley and power semiconductors in connection with energy public enterprises such as Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO).

Once the complex is established, energy anchor companies and research institutions will be concentrated, generating an annual production inducement effect of 279.2 billion KRW and an employment inducement effect of 1,453 jobs, greatly contributing to the revitalization of the local economy.

The city, together with Jeollanam-do, has been making every effort to secure corporate demand to enhance the project's feasibility.

They actively promoted the prospects for the development of new energy industries and the conditions for relocation to prospective companies nationwide, obtained letters of intent for relocation, and signed investment agreements, achieving valuable results through persistent efforts.

Since taking office, Mayor Yoon Byung-tae has frequently visited the Ministry of Economy and Finance to continuously appeal the necessity and validity of the project for passing the preliminary feasibility study of the energy national industrial complex.

The city plans to accelerate various administrative procedures and land compensation necessary for the complex's development, aiming to advance the originally scheduled groundbreaking in 2026 to early construction within 2025 by concentrating administrative power.

Mayor Yoon Byung-tae said, “I thank the employees who worked hard to pass the preliminary feasibility study for the energy national industrial complex, as well as the officials from Jeollanam-do and LH who cooperated with us. We will do our best to establish an energy mega cluster involving industry, academia, research, and government, including KEPCO, Korea Energy Engineering University, Energy New Technology Research Institute, and Energy Valley Enterprise Development Institute, to become a hub for national economic development and the new energy industry ecosystem.”
