[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The childbirth policy promoted by Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, received excellent evaluations.
Nam-gu announced on the 22nd that it was selected as an excellent institution in the '2022 Autonomous District Childbirth Policy Evaluation' hosted by Gwangju City.
Gwangju City conducts this evaluation annually to motivate autonomous districts in implementing childbirth policies and to share best practices.
The evaluation indicators included 13 indicators across 5 items, covering both qualitative and quantitative assessments.
For the qualitative evaluation, outstanding cases independently conducted by each autonomous district were reviewed. In the quantitative evaluation, factors such as the expansion and utilization rate of the Together Care Centers, the performance of multi-child preferential card promotion, dedicated parking spaces for pregnant women, and childbirth policy publicity were assessed.
Nam-gu achieved balanced results across all areas and was selected as an excellent institution for two consecutive years.
The construction of the Nam-gu Family Love Sharing Center, expansion of public and national daycare centers, and efforts to improve childcare teachers' treatment, aimed at creating a happy childcare environment for both children and parents, received favorable evaluations.
Additionally, to spread awareness of multicultural family culture, linked programs such as the Multicultural Mom School and multicultural book circulation lending service were operated. The district also led efforts to create a happy childbirth environment by running a population policy academy to improve low birthrate awareness and enhancing the Angel House function supporting childbirth for unmarried mothers.
Furthermore, through promotion of the Together Care Centers, utilization rates were raised to 78%, and nine new companies were added to the multi-child preferential card program, earning the honor of being selected as an excellent institution.
A Nam-gu official stated, “Along with spreading a childbirth-friendly atmosphere in the district, we will continue to actively discover and implement childbirth policies to ensure that there is no shortage in having and raising children.”
