[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jeong] Dongkuk Steel announced on the 22nd that all in-house partner companies have completed obtaining the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (KOSHA MS) certification.

The Occupational Safety and Health Management System (KOSHA MS) is a certification granted by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency after inspecting workplace safety, aimed at preventing industrial accidents and creating a safe working environment.

Throughout this year, Dongkuk Steel has supported all in-house partner companies in acquiring the KOSHA MS certification to improve the level of safety and health management.

Dongkuk Steel’s dedicated safety management department collaborated with professional consulting firms, operated regular safety councils with partner companies, and promoted the stabilization of safety-related systems from manual preparation to training, inspection, evaluation, and improvement. As of December this year, all 33 in-house partner companies across all business sites including Busan, Pohang, Incheon, and Dangjin have completed obtaining the Occupational Safety and Health Management System certification.

With this company-wide certification acquisition, Dongkuk Steel can now operate an integrated safety and health management system standard with its in-house partner companies. Dongkuk Steel and its in-house partners will share and advance procedures related to safety and health such as ▲regulations ▲risk assessment ▲emergency management ▲hazardous machinery management ▲accident response ▲work environment measurement ▲health checkups.

Based on the improved Occupational Safety and Health Management System, Dongkuk Steel plans to promote the expansion of the safety and health management system to external partner companies in the future.

This year, Dongkuk Steel significantly increased its safety and health investment to 40.1 billion KRW, which is 23.5 billion KRW or 142% more than last year. In June last year, Dongkuk Steel established the Win-Win Cooperation Office and formed the Safety and Environment Planning Team as the company-wide safety management organization.
