[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] Medical artificial intelligence (AI) company Lunit announced on the 22nd that it has signed a supply contract for its 'AI Breast Cancer Screening Solution' with major hospitals in Hong Kong and Mongolia.
Through this contract, Lunit plans to supply its mammography AI image analysis solution, 'Lunit Insight MMG,' to HKWI (Hong Kong Women’s Imaging), the largest imaging center in Hong Kong, as well as to the National Cancer Center of Mongolia and the Breast Clinic of Ulaanbaatar.
HKWI Hospital in Hong Kong is a medical institution specializing in breast cancer screening for women, with the highest volume of breast imaging in Hong Kong. It operates four branches within Hong Kong’s central business district. Starting with this supply contract with HKWI Hospital, Lunit is also discussing the introduction of AI products with multiple hospitals under the Hong Kong Hospital Authority, the public hospital management organization.
The National Cancer Center of Mongolia is the largest cancer-specialized hospital in Mongolia and plans to install and operate Lunit Insight MMG within its breast surgery department. Additionally, the Breast Clinic of Ulaanbaatar, which was the first institution in Mongolia to adopt Lunit products, operates two hospitals in Ulaanbaatar. Based on this contract, Lunit expects that many medical institutions in Mongolia will adopt Lunit AI.
Dr. Odbayar, a breast surgery specialist at the National Cancer Center of Mongolia, stated, "The incidence of breast cancer has been increasing recently in Mongolia. The introduction of AI will contribute to the medical field by enhancing medical staff productivity while reducing screening time and healthcare service costs."
Seobumseok, CEO of Lunit, said, "This export to Hong Kong and Mongolia will serve as a foothold for expanding into East Asian countries such as China and Singapore. Furthermore, we plan to continuously supply high-quality AI products and services to Asia, where the level of medical services is high, thereby expanding the adoption base of medical AI solutions."
