[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Joo Ho-young, floor leader of the People Power Party, announced on the 20th that he will return to the Itaewon Disaster Special Committee for the state audit.

On the same day, Joo told reporters at the National Assembly, "I rejected the resignation intentions of the state audit committee members and encouraged them to participate in the audit."

When asked about the timing of his return, he replied, "There will be an on-site investigation tomorrow morning."

Accordingly, ruling party members of the Itaewon Disaster Special Committee are also expected to attend the on-site investigation schedule starting from the 21st.

Just before the meeting, Joo and the People Power Party members of the state audit committee held a discussion with about ten bereaved families of the Itaewon disaster.

Earlier, ruling party members of the state audit committee had conveyed their intention to resign from the committee to Joo after the Democratic Party of Korea unilaterally passed a motion to dismiss Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min at the National Assembly plenary session on the 11th, in protest.
