[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Haman County in Gyeongnam was selected as an 'Excellent Institution' in the green landscaping evaluation conducted by Gyeongnam Province.
According to the county, the evaluation was conducted on 18 cities and counties within the province based on this year's urban forest and green space creation project performance, using 9 detailed indicators across 4 categories: budget, performance, participation, and exemplary cases.
The county was recognized for its achievements in reducing air pollution, transforming abandoned land with illegal waste into usable space, and improving residents' quality of life by creating the Chilwon Unseo Industrial Complex fine dust reduction urban forest and the Chilseo Genaeri area fine dust blocking forest.
Other major accomplishments included the creation of a smart garden ball within the Chilseo Industrial Complex, the nation's first equestrian-linked forest park, securing national government budget leading to an 80% budget execution rate, and roadside green space management.
County Governor Jo Geunje said, “We will continue to strive to contribute to creating a pleasant Green Gyeongnam that responds to climate change and improves the quality of life for residents.”
