Positive Response to Presentation on Sustainable Development Cases by Sinan-gun and Local Governments

[Sinan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] On the 20th, Park Woo-ryang, Chairman of the Sustainable Development Local Government Council, attended the ‘2022 3rd Sustainable Development Policy Forum’ held at the National Assembly Members' Office Building, Seminar Room 3.

The 3rd Sustainable Development Policy Forum was jointly hosted by National Assembly members Kim Jong-min, Yoon Chang-hyun, Yang Jung-sook, and the National Sustainable Development Council.

This policy forum provided ▲ a “platform to listen to the voices of the people and the field” suitable for the transitional policies of the new government and the implementation of the Framework Act on Sustainable Development ▲ and a discussion on the governance for expanding the roles of the National Assembly, central government, and integrating and coordinating sustainable development in the private sector and regions.

At the policy forum, youth requests for the implementation of sustainable development at the national and local levels and an executable sustainable development governance model were presented. During the sustainable development policy discussion, panelists engaged in mutual discussions on stakeholder suggestions to activate the implementation of the Framework Act on Sustainable Development, as well as realistic and efficient policy directions ahead of the full enforcement of the Framework Act.

Chairman Park Woo-ryang (Sinan County Governor) stated, “At the 17th World Local Government Biodiversity Summit held in Montreal, Canada, I represented Korean local governments and presented cases of sustainable development from Sinan County and Korean local governments, which received great response worldwide.” He added, “Taking this forum as an opportunity, we will work together with local governments belonging to the council to further strengthen cooperative relationships with the political sphere, the international community, domestic activity groups, and institutions.”
