[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] An accomplice who produced and distributed child sexual exploitation materials together with the main perpetrator "El" of the so-called "Second n-room" case has been brought to trial.
The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office's Women and Children Crime Investigation Division (Chief Prosecutor Kim Eun-mi) announced on the 20th that a man in his 40s, Mr. A, was arrested and indicted on charges of violating the Child and Youth Protection Act (production and distribution of sexual exploitation materials) and others.
Mr. A is accused of conspiring with the main perpetrator known by the alias "El" to produce six child and youth sexual exploitation materials around October to November last year and distributing six adult illegal filming materials in a Telegram chatroom he operated. Investigations revealed that he possessed about 2,000 sexual exploitation and illegal filming materials.
As of today, the prosecution has arrested and indicted two accomplices involved in the crime, including Mr. A, and one person with serious charges of distributing and possessing sexual exploitation materials.
Earlier, the police arrested a South Korean man in his 20s, identified as the main perpetrator "El" in this case, in Australia last month. This man is charged with violating the Child and Youth Protection Act for threatening nine minor victims and distributing over 1,200 sexual exploitation materials created from December 2020 to August this year via Telegram.
