[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] Sungkyunkwan University will select a total of 1,475 students in the 2023 academic year regular admission. This accounts for about 40.1% of the total admission quota.
Sungkyunkwan University will select 721 students in Group A and 754 students in Group B through regular admissions from December 29 to January 2. Both humanities and natural sciences will select students 100% based on the CSAT scores in both Group A and Group B, while arts and physical education will select students in Group B based on CSAT scores and practical exams. The Department of Fine Arts reflects 60% CSAT and 40% practical exam scores, and the Department of Sports Science reflects 80% CSAT and 20% practical exam scores.
Once again, Sungkyunkwan University will select freshmen through large-scale recruitment units that integrate various departments into one (Humanities and Sciences, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Engineering). The large-scale recruitment units have more admission quotas than individual departments, so the admission score changes according to competition rates are relatively small, making stable application possible.
It is also important to carefully check the reflection ratios of each CSAT subject area. For humanities, Korean (35%), Mathematics (35%), and Social/Science Inquiry (30%) are reflected, while for natural sciences, Korean (30%), Mathematics (35%), and Science Inquiry (35%) are reflected. For arts and physical education, the reflection ratios vary by department, so checking the admission guidelines is essential. English and Korean History apply the same standards to all recruitment units, awarding additional points by grade.
Additionally, various scholarship programs operated during the regular admission period are worth noting. The Samsung Scholarship II provides full tuition scholarships for two years to all students who achieve a certain level of CSAT scores. In particular, all first successful applicants to Global Business, Global Economics, and Global Leadership receive a full four-year Samsung Scholarship regardless of their CSAT scores.
Sungkyunkwan University holds a 2023 regular admission support strategy briefing and operates an expanded admission counseling office for applicants. The support strategy briefing started on the 9th in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, and is ongoing in 12 cities nationwide until the 27th in Seoul. Individual counseling is conducted after the briefing, so examinees in the region should actively utilize this opportunity. The expanded admission counseling office is also operating at Sungkyunkwan University from the 19th until noon on January 1. Both the briefing and admission counseling can be applied for through the admissions office website.
