[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 20th that "starting January 2nd next year, charter buses will be added to four metropolitan, city, and village bus routes connected to subway stations with high congestion during weekday commuting hours."

The city plans to operate charter buses during weekday morning (07:00~07:50) and evening (18:00~19:10) rush hours, with 4 runs of city bus No. 76 (Dasan-dong~Seokgye Station) (2 runs each for morning and evening, reducing intervals from 10 minutes to 5 minutes), and 2 runs of village bus No. 33-1 (Cheonghak-ri~Danggogae Station) (1 run each for morning and evening, reducing intervals from 15 minutes to 7 minutes).

Additionally, 2 runs of metropolitan express bus No. M2352 (Pyeongnae-dong~Jamsil Metropolitan Transfer Center) (1 run each for morning and evening, reducing intervals from 15 minutes to 7 minutes), and 2 runs of direct seat bus No. 1000-1 (Hopyeong-dong~Jamsil Metropolitan Transfer Center) (1 run each for morning and evening, reducing intervals from 70 minutes to 30 minutes) will be added.

Since the KD Transportation Group banned standing passengers on metropolitan buses on the 18th of last month, the city plans to review additional dispatches for routes No. 1003 (Dasan-dong~Jamsil Metropolitan Transfer Center) and No. 1006 (Dasan-dong~Gangbyeon Station), where charter buses have already been added, after assessing usage status.

Meanwhile, charter buses operating from January 2nd next year will only accept transportation card boarding, and fares and integrated metropolitan area transfer discounts will be applied the same as existing routes.

Joo Gwang-deok, Mayor of Namyangju City, said, "We will continuously monitor the operation status to ensure that citizens commuting by subway do not experience inconvenience when using buses and will prepare countermeasures accordingly."
