Iru
[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] Singer Iru (real name Jo Sung-hyun) was caught by the police for drunk driving in the middle of the night.
Seoul Yongsan Police Station announced on the 20th that Jo was booked on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).
According to the police, Jo is suspected of causing an accident while driving under the influence around 11:25 p.m. the previous day near Hannam Bridge to Dongho Bridge on the Gangbyeonbuk-ro heading toward Guri. Jo's vehicle collided with the right guardrail and overturned.
The blood alcohol concentration measured immediately after the accident was at the level for license suspension (0.03% or higher but less than 0.08%). After measuring Jo's blood alcohol level, the police allowed him to return home for the time being. They plan to conduct a detailed investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
Meanwhile, a man who was riding in Jo's vehicle is reported to have sustained relatively minor injuries. The police plan to decide whether to book this man on charges of aiding drunk driving after questioning him.
