Since 2015, the branch has been donating the same amount of goods annually and has been leading community contribution activities.

Mayor Lee Gi-jae said, “The first step to a livable city and a good place to live in Yangcheon starts with the environmental public officials who always strive for a pleasant and clean environment,” adding, “I deeply appreciate your active participation in neighbor aid activities every year, and I will make sure that the donated goods are delivered to those in need.”

On the morning of the 19th, Park Kang-su, Mayor of Mapo District Office, handed certificates of completion to 60 residents who completed the elementary basic education at the Mapo Lifelong Learning Center.

This elementary basic education is a literacy education program prepared for residents who missed the opportunity to participate in education and cannot read or understand texts.

The 2022 elementary basic education was held once a week for eight months from April to November, with classes divided into beginner and intermediate levels according to the difficulty of the education to provide level-based learning.

Seongheon Lee, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, Colm Flanagan, Headmaster of the school, and students participated.

Seodaemun District (Mayor Lee Seong-heon) announced on the 19th that Seoul Foreign School, located in the area, is warming the community by practicing various sharing activities for vulnerable residents in the community at the end of the year.

Students of Seoul Foreign School donated tuna cans, cup noodles, rice, instant foods, etc., creating a so-called ‘food tree’ worth about 5.5 million won. They also attached messages of hope to the food items to be delivered to neighbors in need.

The district delivers the collected food to low-income residents in the area through the Seodaemun Food Market.

In addition, Seoul Foreign School donated 1.76 million won in cash to the ‘2023 Warm Winter Project.’

Furthermore, 17 teachers from the school recently participated in the ‘Seodaemun District Happiness 100% Companion’ project, which pairs with low-income families one-on-one, and have supported a total of 18 million won to 9 families so far.

At the food tree delivery ceremony held on the 15th of this month, Lee Seong-heon, Mayor of Seodaemun District, expressed his gratitude, saying, “The various sharing activities of Seoul Foreign School are a great example to the community.”

Seoul Foreign School was founded in 1912 and currently has about 1,900 students enrolled. Colm Flanagan, the headmaster who took office in 2014, emphasizes communication between the school and the community.
