Argentina has claimed the top spot at the F?d?ration Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup, with Lionel Messi (35, Paris Saint-Germain) receiving widespread praise from foreign media. With this victory, Messi became the first player to have won the World Cup, the Union of European Football Associations Champions League (UCL), the Ballon d'Or, and the Olympics all at the highest level.

On the 18th (local time), CNN reported, "Messi held the World Cup trophy in the most dramatic and nail-biting match," adding, "Alongside football legends Diego Maradona and Pel?, Messi has cemented his place."

They continued, "Messi, united by grit and determination, shone throughout the tournament," stating, "Argentina had to endure patiently since their 1986 World Cup victory, and the wait was worth it." Argentina secured their third World Cup title in 36 years, following the tournaments held in their home country in 1978 and in Mexico in 1986.

On the same day, The New York Times (NYT) also praised, "Messi's journey was one of continuous waiting. Even after scoring two goals, he had to wait through extra time and penalties," adding, "Ultimately, his pain and waiting have ended. He has achieved the final honor he longed for most."

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) also reported, "Messi's Argentina defeated France to win the World Cup," calling it "one of the most thrilling matches in history. Argentina's superstar finally lifted the trophy, solidifying his greatness."

They added, "Messi has won at least once in every major tournament. Even without the World Cup trophy, he was the greatest athlete in sports history," and "Now Messi has the World Cup trophy as well."

Team Cook and Elon Musk Send Congratulations to Argentina

Globally renowned figures also sent congratulatory messages to Argentina, the World Cup champions. Apple CEO Tim Cook tweeted, "It was one of the most amazing matches I've ever seen."

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, also posted a video of the final match filmed at the World Cup stadium on Twitter, saying, "There will never be a better game than this," and "The match between Argentina and France was incredible."

Meanwhile, Argentina, led by coach Lionel Scaloni, won the 2022 Qatar World Cup final at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar by defeating France 4-2 in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in regular time and a 3-3 tie after extra time.

Messi led Argentina to victory with 7 goals and 3 assists in the tournament. He also received the Golden Ball award, given to the tournament's best player.
