Lithium Plus Begins Raw Material Input for Mass Production of Lithium Hydroxide

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Lithium comprehensive materials company Lithium Plus has started raw material input for lithium hydroxide production.

On the 19th, Lithium Plus announced that it began raw material input for the full-scale production of battery-grade ultra-high purity lithium hydroxide at its factory located in Chubu-myeon, Geumsan-gun, Chungnam.

Lithium Plus completed the construction of the first domestic lithium hydroxide production plant for automotive batteries on October 13. This plant applies the ‘CULH’ process designed based on the patented technology of CEO Jeon Woong. The equipment used in each process was also domestically manufactured. This is in stark contrast to other domestic companies pursuing lithium hydroxide production, which adopt foreign companies’ technologies and equipment.

Since the completion, Lithium Plus has been inspecting the production equipment made for mass production of lithium hydroxide. After inputting raw materials and optimizing the equipment’s efficiency, they plan to produce the initial batch of battery-grade ultra-high purity lithium hydroxide.

The Lithium Plus CULH process enables the use of low-grade lithium carbonate, which is difficult to use in automotive batteries, as a raw material for lithium hydroxide production. The CULH process uses an innovative lithium high-purification technology to refine low-purity lithium carbonate, making it economically advantageous.

A Lithium Plus official said, “We are pleased to contribute to the development of the domestic lithium secondary battery industry,” adding, “Since we have thoroughly inspected each process after the plant’s completion, we expect to produce lithium hydroxide efficiently through optimization for mass production.”

He continued, “By succeeding in production with CULH technology and being recognized for our innovative and eco-friendly lithium hydroxide manufacturing technology, we will realize the phrase ‘Lithium is technology.’”
