Hotel Food at Home... Do You Know 'Two Michelin Guide'?

Transition to COVID-19 Endemic... Hotel Reservations Surge Toward Year-End
As Demand Rises, Hotel Food Takeout 'To Go' Products Gain Popularity
Strict Taste Standards Lead to 'To-Sulreong Guide' Inspired by 'Michelin Guide'

Hotel Food at Home... Do You Know 'Two Michelin Guide'? As the COVID-19 endemic situation coincides with the year-end atmosphere, hotel reservations have become difficult, making 'to-go' food items popular. Although the food is for takeout, the dishes are prepared with carefully selected ingredients by hotel chefs, leading to the term 'To-Schellin Guide,' a play on the 'Michelin Guide.' [Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] # Office worker Kim is planning a home party for the year-end. Kim said, "Since it is difficult to book a hotel, I am thinking of having a home party," adding, "I plan to take out food from a famous hotel." He continued, "Since the hotel chef prepared the dishes, the taste is expected to be amazing. I am really looking forward to it."

After the COVID-19 endemic, dining-out demand has increased, and with the year-end atmosphere, hotel 'To-Go' products are gaining popularity. 'To-Go' products mean taking packaged hotel food home or to another place to eat. As these 'To-Go' products gain popularity, a term called 'Two-Sulrang Guide' has even emerged. This term is a kind of neologism derived from the 'Michelin Guide,' which evaluates taste with strict standards.

The products sold by hotels for takeout differ qualitatively from the usual 'take-out' method, which involves packaging cooked food for sale. They are prepared using carefully selected ingredients and recipes by professional chefs. Because of this, the price is higher compared to regular packaged food, but there is high demand for 'To-Go' products on special days such as home parties or anniversaries at home.

The industry is also responding to these customer demands by offering higher-level products. Lotte Hotel Seoul is presenting a 'Special Holiday To-Go' promotion until the end of this year. The hotel has composed two representative party menus targeting year-end home party-goers: ▲Tomahawk Set ▲Haxen Set. The Grand Hyatt Seoul Hotel sells a 6kg roasted turkey as part of its 'Festive Season To-Go' menu, while 'Michael by Haevichi,' operated by Haevichi Hotel & Resort, offers the classic British dish 'Beef Wellington Set.'
